Ho’oulu Counseling is proud to be the only licensed provider on the island of Hawai‘i for the New Ways for Families®program—a structured, evidence-informed approach designed to reduce conflict, improve co-parenting, and protect children during and after separation or divorce.
What is New Ways for Families®?
New Ways for Families® (NWFF) is a skills-based program developed by the High Conflict Institute to support parents in high-conflict custody disputes. These tools empower parents to make better decisions for their children, communicate more effectively, and shift away from blaming and adversarial dynamics.
Who is it for?
This program is ideal for families going through:
High-conflict divorce or separation
Family court disputes involving custody or visitation
Co-parenting challenges that impact children’s well-being
It is often recommended or required by the courts, but it is also available to families seeking a proactive approach to healing and restructuring after separation.

Whether referred by the court, your attorney, or seeking support independently, we welcome you to contact us. Our team will guide you through the intake and scheduling process and answer any questions you may have.
Program Cost
The New Ways for Families® program at Ho'oulu Counseling is a private-pay service. We do not accept insurance for this program.
Cost: $900 per parent
Includes: 6 structured individual sessions focused on skill-building and co-parenting tools
Payment: Full payment is required up front before the start of services
If additional sessions are recommended—such as child or family sessions—those may be covered by insurance, depending on your plan and clinical necessity.
