    Meet Nancy Bottorff

    Doctor of Psychology, Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Bottorff sees clients 18 years and older. She works with clients based on their unique characteristics of history, personality, experiences, and culture. Her goal is to uncover what is keeping clients dissatisfied with life and develop the skills they need to live more fully and authentically. Her work draws on therapy approaches that include Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

AEDP harnesses the innate healing capacities of the brain by drawing from the attachment theory, emotion theory, affective neuroscience, and body-focused approaches. The result is an integrative theory that approaches healing through a secure connection with the therapist allowing for painful material to be transformed into new and healing experiences. This approach privileges glimmers of transformation that can be expanded upon to create lasting change.

EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the client to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping or auditory tones), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. EMDR therapy is an extensively researched, effective method proven to help people recover from trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms.

Dr. Bottorff is highly experienced and effective at diminishing trauma responses so that you can pursue a life that is fulfilling.
